Gary Zunkel, P.E.
Senior Engineer in Pipeline Integrity
Mr. Zunkel has over 35 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. In the early part of his career, he was an engineer with Halliburton Services with primary job responsibilities designing and developing drill stem testing, completion, and service tools. During this tenure, Mr. Zunkel became an inventor of 20 US patents.
During the last 15 years of his career, Mr. Zunkel has focused solely on pipeline integrity management and is currently regarded as an authority figure for hydrostatic pressure testing of pipelines. He was formerly Senior Director of Integrity Management with Lake Superior Consulting, where he has been involved in pipeline engineering and integrity management projects, including ILI recommendations.
He has been involved with planning, managing, and executing over 200 pipeline hydrostatic tests and reviewing the results of countless additional tests that covered continental North America. In recent years he has planned and conducted multiple, simultaneous tests on large diameter, in-service pipelines for integrity verification, on both liquid and gas transmission pipelines.
Education:
Mr. Zunkel holds a B.S. in engineering from Iowa State University and is currently a licensed professional engineer in more than 24 states.
