Neil is a metallurgist with over 25 years of practical experience conducting failure analyses, materials assessment, and corrosion testing on a broad range of industrial and commercial equipment and components. He has authored over a thousand failure analysis reports on a variety of products ranging from heat exchangers and valves to firearms and medical devices.
Neil started his career as a metallurgical laboratory manager for a Sheffield UK-based oilfield material supplier and later moved to the USA to work for IMR Test Labs (now part of Curtiss-Wright) conducting failure analysis on a wide range of commercial and industrial products. Neil was later employed by Stress Engineering as an Associate II for many years providing failure analysis and materials selection consultation for a broad range of upstream, midstream, and downstream clients.

Education:
Neil earned a BEng in Mechanical Design, Materials & Manufacture from Nottingham University, Nottingham, UK (1993) and an MSc in Corrosion Science and Engineering from UMIST, Manchester, UK (1994).
