Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) Course

Course Description

INTRODUCTION TO ESPS

  • Components & Limitations - Functionality of centrifugal pumps, induction type motors and seal/protector, hydraulic and geometric design considerations will be discussed. Plus information on mechanical operational limits, ratings and performance and the impact of free gas, viscous fluids and abrasives on centrifugal pumps.

  • Frequency Operations - Fixed frequency and variable frequency operations on ESP’s performance will be discussed.

  • Downhole Harmonics - Considerations of downhole harmonics produced in variable speed drive operations will be discussed.

Duration: 8 hours

ESP BEST PRACTICES & FAILURES

  • Best Practices & Failures - A discussion of Dismantle, Inspection & Failure Analysis (DIFA), addressing “Why” the ESP failed rather than “What” failed, establishing minimum expectations and criteria for the ESP DIFA and then provide the tools and knowledge to ensure the DIFA is performed to industrial standards.

Duration: 8 hours
